I have a Masters Degree in Education and Art and over 10 years of teaching Art in a variety of settings, both inside the classroom, on-line, and from my studio. Alongside a daily practice of doing my own work as a painter and draughtsman, I have a strong background in empowering others to develop their creative muse through visual Art.
I ran the “Arts Alive” summer program for WARM (Women’s Art Registry of Minnesota). This program, funded by the Perpich Center, hired Minnesota artists to communities outside the Twin Cities to develop and lead classes for artist educators. Through a grant from the State of Minnesota, I created the first all women’s art exhibition in Northeast Minneapolis, which has since become a strong art community. I also secured a grant from the Neighborhood Revitalization Program to fund a Art’s Community Program in Logan Park.
My participation in the Wisdom division of Landmark Worldwide, and my own extensive reading about the process of creation, has shown me that we all have the ability to uniquely express ourselves through art.
My own work exhibits my commitment to not being bound from one piece to another by a particular style that would restrict my self-expression. I generally traverse between the abstract and an expressionistic realism, but that generalization is more for you to determine than for me to explain. I have won grants and awards for my work. My paintings are in private collections throughout the USA and in Nigeria and Turkey.
